Re offseason position player whiffs; for both '22 & '23, Suarez is the only one who's worked out. Hernandez light hitting & spotty fielding not worth resigning. For Sewald, M's get 2 younger light hitting position players and a prospect to replace 2 old light hitting position players. Wild card's possible, but looks like '23 is another "wait'll next year" year based on bad hitting. Besisdes the potential bullpen strain Luke mentions, I'd hate to see them injure young starters Miller, Woo by overloading innings for a team that, as usual, can't hit a breaking ball to save its collective neck.
Excellent. I mean, who were they going to add without trading a Gilbert, Woo, or Miller? If Robbie Ray wasn’t coming off of TJ, or Marco was at least functional, then you can deal. Would’ve liked to see something but kind of an odd trade deadline
Good read Luke, agree completely on the timing of trading Sewald and still believe in this staff.
We’ll see offensively and believe this off season is a must “hit” for improved bats.
Thanks Donnie!
